Gym Class Heroes + Anoop Desai show - University of GA | Athens, GA - Eats
After the show, my shooting assistant and UGA alumni Sophia showed me around a bit of downtown Athens and we ate at a 24 hour spot called The Grill. Athens is a cool little college town - reminded me a little of downtown Savannah. And people were partying. Last night was a Tuesday night. That’s how UGA kids get down? Amazing!
Good, greasy food in a 50s style restaurant.
Besides the good food, the appeal of this place was all the cool stuff to look at. I just got into Instagram and took pictures of way too many things in here.
The restaurant sign was cool. Neon lights are always a sight to see. They have a long glass case that runs down the middle of the shop and is full of a lot of really cool stuff. There was a statuette of Mohammed Ali and Superman fighting, vintage Superman comic books, some old gumball machines, and a jukebox in the corner.
Really, I can’t even list all the amazing things they have in this restaurant. Couldn’t even concentrate on eating.
I had the Smurf Burger platter and a side salad. I have to say, the food presentation at The Grill is on point.
They also have a vegetarian menu - which you don’t see much in a burger joint and that’s awesome!
Check it out if you’re ever in Athens!
